1. What the service does
Whichtrades breaks a job into the trades it usually involves and the order those trades work in. For each step it gives the reason that step cannot be moved, the points at which a gap between two trades causes damage, and which trades one person commonly covers.
This is neither a method statement nor an assessment of your property. Your site structure, the routes of your existing services and the practice where you live are all unknown to it. Every breakdown states what it cannot know, and that list is not decoration.
2. How the output is produced
The trades, the ordering and the reasons come from a table of jobs and trade dependencies held inside this application. That table is written by people, and it is the same for everyone who asks the same question.
A language model is used for exactly one thing: deciding which entry in that table your sentence refers to. It does not select the trades. It does not order them. It does not write the reasons. It does not see your photographs in order to reach a conclusion about your property. If the model is unavailable, the application falls back to matching your words against the same table, and the output is unchanged.
The consequence is worth stating plainly: the output is consistent, but it is also general. It describes how a job of that kind usually goes. It does not describe how your job will go.
3. No determination about qualifications or regulatory compliance
The service makes no determination about qualifications or regulatory compliance. It does not judge whether any work is notifiable, who would notify it, whether anything meets a requirement, or whether any tradesperson is suitably qualified.
Where it notes that a type of work is notifiable in many places, that is a prompt to ask, not a statement about your jurisdiction. Rules differ widely from one place to another, and this service is not written for any one of them. Your local authority and the contractor who quotes are the authorities on that question.
You will not find a citation of any regulation on this site, nor a judgement that a particular qualification is or is not sufficient. That absence is deliberate.
4. No structural or safety assessment
The service performs no structural or safety assessment of any kind. Anything involving load-bearing structure, gas or asbestos must be looked at on site by a qualified professional and cannot be settled from a written description.
When the service detects content of that kind, it stops and says so rather than producing a breakdown. It does not produce a partial answer, and it does not list trades “in the meantime”. That behaviour is not a limitation we are apologising for; it is the correct answer to the question asked.
5. No recommendations, pricing or timescales
The service recommends no tradesperson or firm, and provides no pricing, no timescale commitment and no introduction. It names categories of work. Where to find someone to do that work is not something it answers, and nobody pays us to appear in it, because nobody appears in it.
The sequence shows order, not duration. It never says how long anything takes.
6. Your content and training
What you type, and any photograph you upload, are not used to train any model. They are processed to produce your result and stored with your account so that you can return to them. You can delete them at any time. Photographs are optional and photographs containing people are not accepted. See the Privacy notice.
7. Prohibited uses
The output must not be used as an input to medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, employment, credit, housing or judicial decisions. The safety exclusion is absolute. See the Acceptable use policy.
8. Mistakes
The table can be wrong, and a sentence can be matched to the wrong entry. If something looks wrong, tell us and we will look at it — the table is maintained by people, so it can be corrected. Do not, however, wait for us to correct it before asking the person who will actually do the work. They can see the property; we cannot.
9. Accessibility of the output
Every sequence has a plain-text version listing each trade in order with the reason it cannot move, and every bar carries its trade name in text and its own pattern, so nothing is conveyed by colour alone. See the Accessibility statement.
